North Texas. Giving Grove is a non-profit organization based in Kansas City. His mission is to plant fruit trees and berry bushes across America to reach low-income urban neighbors who need real food.

They found Wynwood Farms, just east of Dallas, to spread the idea across the metroplex. The first garden remained on the farm. This is the second year.

If you have a garden or landscape, you know how difficult the last two winters have been for new plants (historically dry and hot). But with persistence, they planted more than twenty gardens in four regions.

It takes 4-5 years for the tree to bear fruit. These trees are maintained by a network of volunteers and community members. Trees bear fruit for decades after planting.

Not all of us have access to fresh food. These food deserts can be found in poor areas of metropolitan areas. With a seven-hectare farm in Wynwood, you can grow a lot of food in an urban environment. It is a huge investment in human well-being. Thinking about how to serve people better food doesn't have to be limited to Thanksgiving weekend.
