An energetic team of National Lottery winners donned their sun hats and worked hard to breathe new life into the four-legged residents of a 'nursing home'.
The team of 20 winners, with a combined fortune of around £27m, were delighted to hear about the Cinnamon Trust's plan to create a herb garden and gym specifically for young people. the dogs that now reside at Cinnamon's house after losing their owners. The trustees lived in Devon.
Working with the Cinnamon Trust team, the multi-millionaire staff rolled up their sleeves and created a dog-friendly space where senior residents can roam and browse over 20 types of grass to their heart's content.
Meanwhile, those with a little more flair can take advantage of the purpose-built dog gym, complete with ramps, sandboxes and a unique raffle ball pit.
The team was led by National Lottery millionaires Ruth and Peter Doyle, whose win allowed them to retire early and spend more time with their beloved dogs Bailey and Lily.
Their win also allowed them to help underprivileged dogs by training Romanian strays and volunteering at a rescue center in Spain.
Mrs Doyle said: “It was great to work as a team today in the beautiful Devon countryside.
“I hope our efforts will make life a little easier for the dogs entrusted to the wonderful Cinnamon Trust family in their old age.
"Our win means we've been able to help abused dogs by spending more time with both of us.
“From the moment they confirmed the win, they won, we even gave them their own personalized dog carrier to make them feel more comfortable on holiday.
Unfortunately we lost Bailey earlier in the year but the win has helped us once again as we have always been able to provide him with the absolute best care and treatment even during these last few sad weeks."
The Trust's two shelters welcome a wide variety of animals after their owners have made prior arrangements to care for their beloved companion.
They also have their own gym and herb garden thanks to the help of South West England National Lottery winners.
Shelter director Julie White added: "Our priority is to ensure that the animals that come here receive the same level of care, love and attention that they would receive from their owners."
“The herb garden is not as crazy as it seems. There is plenty of evidence that letting dogs choose from a variety of plants is not only fun for dogs, but also helps with common ailments like colic or colic. - medicines, locks.
