The city hopes to revitalize downtown Boston with exciting arts and hangouts: a vibrant beer garden and entertainment scene on Boston Common.
The Trillium Garden opened Thursday on the unusual stages of the Common and Emerson College and will welcome visitors to Tremont Street and Boylston Street through Nov. 1. Mayor Michelle Wu and the Boston Department of Parks and Recreation announced the opening Tuesday, and Wu said she hopes the project will bring new life to the neighborhood.
This new venue and beer garden on Boston Common will revitalize our historic park and downtown area to represent all Bostonians and provide a beautiful new outdoor meeting space for everyone," Wu said in a press release. "Emerson is committed to bringing excitement and renewal to downtown Boston. The college is proud to partner with two local family businesses—Trillium Brewing and Taqueria El Barrio.”
The beer garden is open Wednesday and Thursday from 16.00 to 21.00, Friday and Saturday from 12.00 to 21.00 and Sunday from 12.00 to 18.00. The beer garden seats more than 400 people and serves food and drinks from Trillium and Taqueria El Barrio. The menu includes pink beer, sour, wild and crunchy beers, as well as tacos, tortas and chips with guacamole.
Covering 5,000 square feet of exhibition space, visitors will be able to see local musicians, comedy shows, book readings and more. Performing artists include the Fabiola Mendez Trio, Albino Mbe and Tolith Marx.
"We are looking for innovative ways to bring Boston residents and visitors downtown to replace some of the vibrancy and foot traffic lost by the pandemic," Segun Idu, president of Economic Opportunity and Inclusion, said in a press release. . "But because of the huge role that arts and culture play in Boston's economy, these additions will have a positive impact on the economic health of the city as a whole."
The venue will open at 4pm on May 4 and the ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 5.15pm.
