Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-Michigan) has finally admitted that some of her official Covid orders are ridiculous. Unfortunately for him, when he first made this order three years ago, everyone knew.

“There were times when we had to make decisions that just didn’t make sense,” Whitmer admitted to Chris Wallace. For example, a restriction on the supply of vegetables. "You can go to a hardware store, but we don't want people hanging around gardening tools," Whitmer says. "He tried to downplay it by saying that people would say, 'Oh, he banned the seed.' It was February in Michigan: no one had planted yet.

The state of Michigan has banned TikTok on devices, and Whitmer is encouraging its use.

Whitmer concluded, “That being said, some of the policies that I looked back on and I think were a little more than they should have been. You can say it again.

Whitmer's modest attempt to defend him failed because February was not in Michigan. According to Michigan State University, orders are placed in March and extended through April, when the growing season in Michigan "usually falls in late March or early April." In addition to the seed ban, Whitmer passed legislation at the time forcing garden centers and nurseries to close and banning landscaping due to inclement weather.

But more importantly, her decision in March 2020 was unscientific and not authoritative. Kaylee Magee White March 13, 2020 For the Washington Examiner , she detailed how ridiculous it was to be able to buy chalk at Lowe's. Painting and buying a new TV at Walmart is not on the couch. “Both stores are completely out of gardening supplies,” he wrote.

Whitmer's argument that people shouldn't "gather" around a stockpile of grass must be ridiculous. Michigan residents were free to go into these stores and buy a variety of items, but Whitmer was worried that they might throw a party in the Walmart parking lot. Michigan residents seem to be flocking to the Home Depot for gardening tools like boy band fans.

But it's not funny. Whitmer was so bigoted that he thoughtlessly continued this and many other absurd and unscientific covid bans. He could only admit that he had done "a little" more than necessary, and even defended himself by perverting what had happened. His position is such that he does not even come close to ruling a state of 10 million people, let alone any level of power.

Add to that his obvious national ambitions and you have a Vice President-level dictator Kamala Harris.

The way Whitmer has handled power during the pandemic has inevitably had an advantage over incumbents in the election. The Michigan Republicans certainly weren't (and wouldn't be) competent enough to pose a threat, but Whitmer's national career was cut short by epidemics and a misunderstanding of just how smart and sophisticated they were.
