West Michigan Home & Garden Show Opens For 44th Year At DeVos Place

GREAT QUICK, MICH. The West Michigan Home & Garden Show returns to DeVos Place this weekend for its 44th season.

The show is the largest of its kind in Western Michigan, with 13 gardens, 5 free workshops and more than 300 local businesses.

The gardens feature a center field created by the Association of Grand Rapids Landscape Design Professionals (AGRLP).

During the exhibition there will be various workshops, tips on indoor plants, successful DIY projects and even cooking demonstrations.

This includes:

  • Lisa Eldred Steinkopf , known as the "Houseplant Guru," will be on the local stage to discuss her latest of four "Bloom" books. It covers everything you need to know about flowering houseplants.
  • Leslie Hart Davidson , interior designer, will also be on stage at the home to discuss design trends for 2023.
  • Keith Werth , life coach, will be on the home stage to share tips on organizing your entire home, using renewable energy, and successfully completing a DIY project.
  • Bree Arthur will headline the Proven Winners Garden Stage with food preservation workshops. The author and PBS correspondent talks about the "rising" trend of creating edible landscapes. It will also teach participants how to keep animals out of their gardens.
  • Other topics include experts covering topics like creating fragrant gardens, gardening for pollinators, and container design.
  • Bevin Cohen of Small House Farm will perform on the Garden to Table stage. He is an award-winning author, herbalist, and host of the popular Seeds & Weeds podcast. Bevin conducts seminars and conferences across the country on the benefits of living closer to the land with local seeds, herbs, and food. His work has appeared in many publications, including Mother Earth News, The Modern Farmer, and The Journal of Medicinal Plant Conservation. and is the author or editor of more than ten books, including Saving Our Seeds and The Herbalist.
  • Chef Jeff Brandon will host four days of cooking demos on the Williams Kitchen Studio culinary stage. He will teach you how to cook truck style food at home.
  • Chef Destiny Keener will also appear on the Williams Kitchen Studio culinary scene. It will introduce home cooking with "Kuntry Cookin'" on the DTE Energy Grilling platform.

Visitors can also walk the Grand Gallery Garden Path for inspiration in the garden exhibition center and small gardens.

The fair also includes a garden and an art market. There will be dozens of booths with unique and inspiring garden accessories, plants, decor, art and gifts from artists, nurseries and gift shops.

On Saturdays admission is free for children under 14 until lunch on Family Day. It will include activities, events, special offers, crafts and workshops for both children and parents and grandparents.

The exhibition is open from Thursday to Sunday.

  • Thursday, March 2, 2023 - from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Friday, March 3, 2023 - from 12:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 4, 2023 - from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, March 5, 2023 - from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased online or in person . It costs $12 for adults or $18 for a multi-day ticket and $5 for children ages 6-14. Children under 5 years - free.
