Lehigh Valley Flower Show: Turn Your Backyard Into The Garden Oasis Youve Always Wanted

For more than 50 years, despite Phil of Punxsutawney's often gloomy predictions, the Lehigh Valley Flower and Garden Show has taken the Valley from cold, dark winter days to warm spring.

"Our theme this year is Your Backyard Garden," said Laurie and Dan Wuchter, Chanel Fuentes event manager and coordinator.

"This year we want to create a show to help people transform their backyard or garden into a living space," he said, "whether it's buying a new pool, planting fresh flowers or trees, or buying a new play area for the kids. "Kids. Everything you need to transform your space."

The show gives guests the opportunity to explore their gardens and experience the transition from bare winter landscapes to lush gardens, living and escaping the stress of everyday life.

This year, the show will run Friday through Sunday at the Allentown Agri-Plex at the Allentown Fairgrounds.

Laurie and Dan Wuchter are not new to the show. They ran it from 2011 to 2012 until Laurie broke her leg and was unable to sell it. Last year they bought and visitors were treated to interactive activities, speakers, vendors and more. they hope to please with a family atmosphere full of

Some of the activities include a DIY flower making workshop and an auction with John of Richmar Florist. There are also a series of lectures and demonstrations for butterfly lovers, such as 'edible gardening', 'composting', 'climate change' and 'monarch habitat creation'. Activities include magic shows, bug shows, DIY projects, workshops and children's stories.

“We will have a beekeeper at the fair to demonstrate the importance of bees. We have cute goats and face painting artists. "We'll have pools, hot tubs, fountains, local landscaping companies, great artists, local artisans, vendors and of course flowers," Fuentes said.

Some of the other contributors are local breweries, breweries, wineries, chocolatiers, candle makers and suppliers who print and paint 3D animals.

The last time Laurie and Dan Wuchter hosted the show, the show drew nearly 13,000 viewers. Since Covid, many vendors and landscapers have either shut down or declined to participate due to staff shortages.

The Wuchters hope to enjoy the three-day event, bringing attention to the industry and emphasizing the importance of your home's personal retreat.

If the pandemic has taught us anything, it's the value of a comfortable home.

"We are glad to see everyone. We love seeing all the local vendors selling crafts,” said Fuint.
