Skrillex surprised fans on Saturday night with the release of 'Don't Get Too Close' (via Owsla/Atlantic), which came out less than 24 hours after his 'Quest for Fire' LP. This new set includes performances by Yung Lean, Bladee, Chief Keef, Justin Bieber, PinkPantheress, Trippie Redd, Aunt Bourelly, Kid Cudi and more.
The announcement was made Saturday night during the producer and DJ's big rave at Madison Square Garden with Fred Again and Four Tet. According to a press release, a CD of the album was distributed at the event and will not be available anywhere else.
More than variations
The show and its full launch marks a busy weekend for Skrillex, starting with a Valentine's Day pop-up at New York's Good Room and culminating in a pre-MSG party in Times Square Center for Radio Lot on February 17th.
Skrillex began ramping up their release schedule after debuting "Rumble" in January with collaborations with Fred Again and Flowdan. This was followed by "Don't Get Too Close" featuring Aunt Burelli, "Way Back" featuring PinkPantheress and Trippie Redd, and himself and Bladey's "Real Spring" and others.
On February 17, the 15-track "Quest for Fire" will be released with the parts of Missy Elliott, Sue Lee, Pete Wentz and others. It was his first full release since 2014's Recess.
