Iconic fashion house Bulgari harnesses the alluring power of colored gemstones in its latest collection of luxury jewelry and timepieces, Eden: Garden of Wonders. Launched in June at the Italian Embassy in Paris at a two-day event attended by glittering stars Anne Hathaway, Priyanka Chopra, Jonas and Carla Bruni, the collection includes 140 pieces, including more than 30 dedicated to the alluring emerald.
Associated with rebirth and fertility, this green gem has been part of Bulgari legend since the 1960s, when Liz Taylor dazzled the paparazzi with her impressive set of emeralds and diamonds, a famous gift from her longtime husband Richard Burton. Most recently, the brand made waves with a gorgeous 93.83 carat cabochon for the Serpenti Hypnotic Emerald necklace that Zendaya wore to the Venice International Film Festival. (The hunt for the stunner was documented in Inside a Dream, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival this fall.)
Eden: The Garden of Wonders has more than its fair share of valuable knockouts, including "Emerald Glory," which resembles a web-like curtain of ice draped around the neck. Like the Taylor pendant brooch, the necklace is perfect as a tiara or necklace. With over 220 carats of diamonds and 11 pear-shaped Colombian emeralds, it took more than 3,000 hours of handwork to create this versatile, dazzling masterpiece.
Tribute to Paris is an elegant tribute to the City of Lights. Craftsmen took 2,000 hours to create the necklace, featuring an oval emerald weighing 35.53 carats, surrounded by exquisite emerald and diamond inlays that allude to the iconic silhouette of the Eiffel Tower.
Another notable necklace, the "Emerald Venus," was inspired by Maidenhair , a fern whose name translates to "Venus's Hair" in Italian. Branches studded with emerald pearls and diamonds appear to grow around an octagonal 20-carat Colombian emerald. The gorgeous timepiece is paired with a fine jewelry wristwatch that features over 74 carats of sparkling emeralds set with baguette, pavé and round diamonds. To top it all off, the sparkling watch features a white gold dial with a faceted mint green tourmaline finish.
