Plane Forced To Make Emergency Landing In Paris Garden

Four people survived a plane crash south of Paris when a small twin-engine plane made an emergency landing in a suburban garden.

Three of the passengers were taken to hospital on Monday after the plane crashed into the wall of a building in Villejuif, about 7 kilometers from Paris.

Transport Minister Clément Beaune tweeted that the plane was forced to make an emergency landing after an engine failure.

"Many thanks to the emergency services who intervened quickly to help the passengers of the plane that had to make an emergency landing in #Villejuif after an engine failure," he said.

He added that investigations into the accident have begun and treatment of the victims continues.

Videos shared by a local television station showed the plane lying in the building's yard, and broken parts, including the tail, could be seen on the roof of a nearby garage.

The rear of the plane was completely separated and the wings were also separated by the force of the crash.

The emergency landing "was carried out due to a technical problem," explained Sébastien Barthe, communications director of the security authority (UAE).

"We will investigate all aspects, including the health of the pilot and the mechanical condition of the aircraft," he said.

The plane took off from Rouen and was due to land at Touss-le-Noble airport, near Versailles.

As rescue teams headed to the scene, the incident blocked traffic in both directions.

According to French media, the pilot was accompanied by an eight-year-old flight instructor and two passengers in their 20s.

The regional prosecutor's office and the air gendarmerie have launched an investigation into possible charges, in particular for recklessly causing harm to health and endangering the lives of other people.

The Minister of Transport said that the Civil Aviation Administration will conduct a separate investigation.
