Summer trends come and go, but some last longer than others. We've already seen garden bars take off, followed by street food ideas, but the big news we've been considering is fancy pots to help us out in our garden.
Whether you want to fill your garden with plants or just take some rose cuttings, a place to store your small garden tools as well as propagate, cut and repot plants will make life a little easier for the gardener.
To start the boiler room again with your own hands
DIY enthusiast Mikaela Shubridge (who you can find on Instagram at @mishkashoe) was looking for a surface to make and reuse her plants, as well as additional storage, but knew she wanted to make a project on a budget .
She took some cabinets she liked, painted them and bought other items on eBay from vintage and independent sellers to complete the look. "I've always tried to be as stable as I can, so the plan for this unused part of our garden was to create a small vegetable station with the option of adding raised beds to grow your own vegetables." He says.

Michaela started by planning her garden and dividing it into sections with room for her new pot. The background is a plain brick wall, but it was pretty boring at first.
"The plan was to tackle the storage element first," she recalls, "and since it's a work nook, we had to make sure what we wanted to create was convenient and accessible. After all, there's no point in spending too much on it No. luxury apartments if they are eventually covered with soil and plants.
Knowing that she had some old blocks in her garage, Michaela wanted to put them to good use and make them practical so she could use them every day. "We've had these devices for a few years now, so I thought it was time to finally use them," she says. "After a good sanding, we made sure to treat the wood base and doors with a wood preservative so they wouldn't look good if left outside all year."
After finding her favorite wood stain on eBay, Michaela decided to give it a makeover. “I love how this paint shows through the wood grain, even after multiple coats,” she says. “The redesign is not only more stable and cheaper, it also has a more personal feel and is one of a kind. This is victory.

With the potting station ready and the brick wall behind it painted, Michaela has a comfortable place to tend her plants. "The power of the paint is absolutely amazing," she says. "Not only is it a very accessible way to breathe new life into things, but it also allows you to express yourself and unleash your creativity."
"I couldn't believe how much white paint could change the exterior wall of our garage," she continues. “I love how clean and bright it is now. It looks completely different and I am very happy with this transformation.
The units did the job, and the redeployment kept the budget down, with a total cost of less than £300. 'If you're looking for simple, affordable ways to transform your garden, upcycling is the way to go,' says Michaela. "It's amazing what you can create from pallets, scrap wood or even scrap furniture."
It's not just the painted blocks that make this kettle so practical; she attached hooks to hang tools she found on eBay, and a sturdy tile counter also transformed the space. "Sometimes I get tired of one-size-fits-all solutions," says Mikaela. “Just because we prefer to use floor tiles for canopies doesn't mean they can't be cut to size and used as worktops instead. Not only is it a great way to transform materials, but it also adds fun and personality to your space.
The interior decoration is a row of plants, all displayed in antique white stone pots, also sourced from eBay for a rustic feel, and the storage baskets keep small items neat and tidy underneath.
You might be surprised to learn that the long row of hooks is actually made from an old wooden beam that Michaela repurposed with an eBay hanging hook kit and is now used to hang garden trowels and pitchforks. "It feels very organized," she says.
A variety of trucks and wire baskets are always on hand, and we love the way Michaela has styled the station.
Request to make your own DIY vase? "I would recommend looking at used items on sites like eBay as you can find really good deals at a fraction of the cost compared to your local garden centres," advises Michaela.
