A benefit concert for Ukraine was held in Windsor

WINDSOR. Friends of Northwest Park in Windsor will host a benefit concert for Ukraine on Saturday, April 15 at 7.30pm featuring the Ukrainian Heavenstar Trio and the International String Trio.

The show will benefit Hope For Ukraine, an American charity that provides food, medical care, shelter and education to Ukrainians whose lives have been destroyed by the war.

Storytime Environment Day will be held on Monday 17 April from 10.30 to 11.15. There will be stories, jokes, poems, songs and crafts. This program is for children ages 2 to 5 with a guardian.

"When to Worry About Memory Loss" will be held on Monday, April 17 from 1:30pm to 2:30pm. Michelle Wyman of the Hartford Center for Healthy Aging will visit the Wilson Branch Library. This will teach you the difference between forgetfulness and more serious memory problems. It will also discuss the causes of the memory leak.

The Children's Art Club will be held on Tuesday 18th April from 4-5pm. This program is aimed at children aged 2 to 5 and their caregivers. fall

Color the Piggy Bank will be held on Wednesday 19th April from 10:30 to 11:30. Please enjoy the story. The children will then receive a ceramic pig to decorate and take home.

The Youth Advisory Group will meet at the Windsor Public Library on Wednesday, April 19, from 3.30pm to 5pm, seeking young people committed to improving libraries, communities and the planet. This is you? Get real-world experience and volunteer hours. Open to young people aged 12 to 18.

The Little Sprouts will meet on Tuesday 25 April from 11:00 to 11:45. This is a STEM-inspired program for children aged 16-24 months. Children can participate, but registration is not required.

Blackout Poetry will be held on Saturday 29th April from 2-3pm. April is National Poetry Month. Create your twilight poem. You will be given a paragraph which you can use as a template to create your poem. Use markers, pens, paints, or black markers to create your sketch poem. Supplies will be provided. fall

E. Windsor Garden Club presents Growing in the Secret Garden.

BROAD BROOK - April 18 at 6:30pm, Fairlie Latavik of The Garden Club will present "Growing in a Secret Garden" at the East Windsor Garden Club at Park Hill 1A Park Hill Community Hall. The program will be a presentation of over 50 years of gardening experience in the speaker's childhood home.

Somers Friends Library is holding a spring sale of used books.

Some: Friends of the Somers Library Used Book Sale is scheduled April 21-23 at the Somers Public Library, located on campus at 2 Vision Blvd., off Highway 190. We accept cash, checks, and Visa/MC.

A pre-sale is scheduled for Friday, April 21, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a $10 entry fee. Friend Group members participate for free. Open sales will be held on Saturday 22nd April from 9am to 2pm and Sunday 23rd April from 10am to 2pm.

There will be a special teacher on Saturday; Get 1 free book for every 10 purchases (of equal or less value). A valid K-12 Teacher ID is required at time of purchase. Sundays are half price and pack your bags ($10 new/$5 pre-purchased Friends of Somers, CT Library).

Hardcover and paperback prices range from 50 cents to $2, with separate sections for the more expensive books. All books are gifted or donated and valued at over 20,000 copies and include history, cooking, sports, fiction, non-fiction, gardening, and more. available in various categories such as puzzles, music cds, albums, audiobooks and dvds. Children's books are sorted by age/grade from toddlers to toddlers.

Donations will be accepted until Wednesday, April 19 and can be deposited in the library lobby. Avoid encyclopedias, textbooks, and books that smell musty/smoky or may have mold stains.

All proceeds from sales help subsidize programs for children and adults at the CT Somers Public Library, as well as fund admission to local museums, snacking with Santa and Discovery Station in the children's department. If you have questions, please call the Somers Public Library at 860-763-3501.

Scholarships are available to Somers residents

SOMERS - Somers Sorority is offering a scholarship to a high school student living in Somers. Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited two- or four-year college or university.
